In recent weeks, the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (Główny Inspektorat Sanitarny, GIS) has been taking
an increasing interest in the safety of cosmetics.
In August 2023, two announcements were published on the GIS website regarding restrictions on the composition and use of such products.
In a communication dated 4 August 2023, GIS stressed that cosmetics are not products intended to be injected or implanted into the human body, such as botox, hyaluronic acid or other preparations.
A similar communication was made available on 24 August 2023 for products intended for skin anaesthesia containing,
for example, lidocaine.
These communications advise consumers, beauticians and tattooists to check that
the product to be used complies with the relevant requirements for medicinal products or medical devices before treatment.
